Restorative Effects of Roses

Research on the Restorative Effects of Roses

Being in nature has a way of calming both the mind and body — and there's a reason for that. Humans are believed to possess an innate drive to connect with the natural world, a concept known as Biophilia. What many of us have always felt instinctively has now been scientifically confirmed for the first time in the world by the Nature Therapy Project at Chiba University's Centre for Environment, Health and Field Sciences.

The Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan has also conducted its own research into the relationship between flowers and the workplace, publishing the findings in two key reports:

  • An experimental study by Chiba University examining the effects of flowers on office workers

  • A survey by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries exploring the connection between flowers and the workplace environment

Together, these studies point to a compelling conclusion: flowers have the power to meaningfully improve satisfaction and wellbeing in the workplace.
